Dogfight release notes
Dogfight 0.9.1 — 2026-09-28
Bandits fight more effectively, with improved pursuit and attack tactics. When shot down, they respawn on the ground, taxi, take off, and return to the fight. Low on fuel or weapons, they head back to land, refuel and rearm, then take off again.
The classic help screens are back, updated with clearer spacing and larger text for readability on a 10-foot display.
The Web version now handles browser-window resizing and starts its opening audio reliably when you click or tap to begin. Its data-loading progress is also easier to follow.
Dogfight 0.9.0 — 2026-09-20
Dogfight is based on the 1997 port of SGI Flight Simulator v3.4.1 to OpenGL and Windows.1 This release updates the Windows version and adds support for Linux and Android.
The most significant addition is single-player Dogfight, where you can fight up to seven computer-controlled "bandits" with configurable piloting and dogfighting skill. You can also watch the bandits fight each other in Radar and Shadow modes.
The underlying engine remains essentially the same, with updated aircraft models and sounds, two additional aircraft (the Eurofighter Typhoon and Saab Gripen), and a new user interface and menu system. Controller support has been tested with the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X and NVIDIA SHIELD controllers. The code has been modernized with C++, 64-bit support, and OpenGL ES rendering.
My thanks to Gary Tarolli and everyone else who contributed to the development of the SGI Flight Simulator, to the FlightGear contributors for the new aircraft models and engine sounds, to Juhani Junkala (SubspaceAudio) for "Epic Boss Battle [Seamlessly Looping]," and to cynicmusic for "Battle Theme A," both shared on OpenGameArt. Licenses and source details are in Help > License.
Whether this brings you a sense of nostalgia or you're new to the game, I hope you will enjoy this updated version of a classic.
